Ambassador for Magic Breakfast

I can now announce that I am an official ambassador for the 'Magic Breakfast' charity, who provide breakfast to school children at over 200 primary schools across the UK.

I look forward to working alongside the great team at Magic Breakfast HQ in making a difference.

My goal is to highlight the importance of breakfast for three reasons. 1: to fuel learning, 2: to increase productivity and 3: to live a healthier lifestyle.

I hope my achievements in the mountains can inspire these kids in realising dreams of their own and the importance of a healthy lifestyle to make them a reality.

I will be visiting the children at their morning breakfast clubs, talking to them and playing an active role in the fuel for learning campaign.

I am very much looking forward to fulfilling a dream of my own in 'inspiring a generation'.

Declassified for a reason

Sunday morning and we head to Portland boulder field in hope of ticking off some problems.

Tommy fully focussed on a problem called 'declassified', a V7 that has caused him hours of thinking and visualising since his last attempt 2 days ago. A day of rest in between, surely means he can crack this route today.

After a warm up on an easy problem and completing a few easy V1/2s, we head over and set up camp beneath 'declassified'. Tommy gives me the beta and I'm all fired up to have a go. First attempt, I set hands on hold and pull, but I can't get my arse off the floor!!! Mmm....
I go again, this time finding a more balanced start position. I pull harder and feel a shooting pain from my finger to my elbow!!!! Oh shit a tendon.
I massage relentlessly and the pain subsided. I manage to carry on, only problem is I feel I can not commit to the left hold. This problem is tough.

Tommy jumps on and shows me how it's done. First move, then a heal hock, slap right hand to good hold, slap left and compress, sort out feet, left hand up and follow with right!!!! This guy's got this ..... Nope tommy off. I thought to myself, 'this route is amazing, no wonder it's been called 'declassified'. It takes every bit of energy out of you and going over the lip will take skin and draw blood, as Tommy experienced first hand!

Tommy tried and tried, but to no avail. I believe he's going back this Friday to try and put this problem to bed.

Tommy being beaten up, we headed to harmagedon V4, a problem I tried 3/4 months ago. I had plenty of fun, but again the sequence and intensity of this project was getting the better of me.

A great day at Portland, but I need to get stronger.

I was looking through some photos of my travels in the himalaya and finding these pictures of 'Tibetan toddlers and Khumbu kids' brought a massive smile to my face. I thought I would share them with you.

Enjoy!

Sponsorship Request

Dear readers,

As you have probably read in previous blogs, I have made the decision to head back out to Nepal, with Lhotse being my next project.

I'm looking for financial sponsorship to help with this climb. I was wondering if any of your businesses would see benifit from supporting this expedition?

If your interested and would like to find out how you can help and what your company could get out of supporting me, then please drop me an email at dosummitgood@gmail.com and I will send out a proposal package and we can follow this up with a meeting.

I hope to hear from some of you soon.

Paul

So 2013...... What's next

I am very excited to announce my next challenge.

In April of this year, I will embark on another expedition to the Himalaya.

Lhotse, the 4th highest in the world, is situated next door to Everest. They share the same base camp, meaning it will be a trip down memory lane, until the yellow band. Turn left for Everest and right for Lhotse.

Part of my decision to climb Lhotse was to be back in the Khumbu, back with the Sherpas and Nepali people and back at base camp with Henry Todd. The familiarity will be comforting as I take on another big mountain.

My training will kick start on Monday morning, spending more time working on cardio and endurance. So yes, that means the versa climber!! The joys of motivating yourself to beast yourself.

I'm looking forward to being back in the mountains and climbing Lhotse.

More experience up high for potentially some very exciting projects in the future.

Supported by "Adidas Eyewear"

I'm very excited to announce I have been supported by Adidas Eyewear.

After the eye issue on Everest in 2012, I have thought a lot about eye protection. Adidas Eyewear have been kind enough to sort me out with some pretty cool eyewear that I'm very excited to use.

Two great sets of glasses, offering great protection on the glacier and the trek in to base camp and 2 sets of goggles. One with a completely clear lens ideal for a night ascent to the summit in windy/white out conditions.

Massive thank you to Adidas Eyewear for your support.

Looking forward to receiving the glasses next week.

To celebrate this partnership we have created a Ltd Edition Everest 2012 Boing-inc bracelet. Cut from the rope that made up my rig for my ascent to the top of the world and it will also be engraved with Everest, 2012.

I will be holding competitions on Facebook, Twitter and my Blog, to give everyone a chance of winning this original, collectible and unique bracelet.

Stay tuned to hear how to win.
